TAR ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF THE FOURTH ANNUAL
GREAT BLUE HERON POETRY CONTEST
The Antigonish Review is pleased to announce the winners of the
fourth Great Blue Heron Poetry Contest:

First Prize ($800 & publication): Anita Lahey, Ottawa, Ontario,
for "In Which You Take Your Friend, Who Has Never Before Visited
Cape Breton, to the Tar Ponds in Sydney," "In Which You
Jog Past Sites of Hardship, Honing Technique," "In Which
You Learn, Once and For All, About Fishermen," "In Which
You Attempt to Jig Mackerel, Then to Cut Them Up, in a Process Known
as 'Cleaning'," and "In Which a Teenage Boy Sings a Lament
to Tourists at Louisbourg."

Second Prize ($500 & publication): David Hickey, Fredericton,
New Brunswick, for "River Liberties."

Third Prize ($300 & publication): Kate Hall, Montreal, Quebec,
for "Schrodinger's Cat," "Letter to My Father,"
"Insomnia," and "The Certainty Dream."
This year's judges were Peter Sanger, Eleonore Schonmaier, and Stephanie
Bolster. There were approximately 350 entries which were blind judged.
We expect the winning poems to be published in issue #139 (Autumn 2004)
of The Antigonish Review.
